Fibroblasts in pathological dermal scar called Keloid are migrating through highly stiff extracellular matrix made of fibrous collagenous network. Cells mechano-sense the stiff matrix environment, deforming nucleus via downregulating nuclear lamina expression to facilitate migratory ability. This elucidates the mechanism by which fibroblasts within the exceptionally stiff matrix of Keloid tissue manifest invasiveness through nuclear deformation. Furthermore, it underscores potential therapeutic targets in the modulation of nuclear mechanics for the treatment of pathological dermal scars.
